College Football Picks (12/2/17): Conference Championship Weekend

Here are my picks for an extremely exciting weekend to end the college football regular season. Good luck!

Georgia +3

You may be thinking, “what the hell are you talking about?” with this pick. Hear me out. Can Auburn really win two huge rivalry games in three weeks against top ranked teams and not have a little bit of an emotional let down this week? Especially because they’re playing Georgia, one of those previously top ranked teams that they beat. Auburn might think they’ve got this game in the bag, already looking ahead to the CFP.

This game is in Atlanta, so it is a de facto home game for Georgia. When Georgia went to Auburn and got blown out, Auburn took an early lead, and Georgia did not know what to do. They didn’t even try and run the ball, and just let Jake Fromm throw it a ton. Fromm has only attempted more than 28 passes in a game twice this season, in a loss to Auburn, and a one point win against Notre Dame. Georgia is much better off leaning on their stable of running backs, and throwing it closer to 18 times and controlling the pace of the game.

Georgia won’t get down big early on a neutral field, they will run the ball, and Auburn won’t be as hyped as they have been. Georgia wins the game outright.

Ohio State -6

This is the first time all season that Wisconsin has faced an offense with any talent, and Ohio State has some serious playmakers. It’ll come down to how JT Barrett plays, just liek the Penn State game. The difference here is that Wisconsin can’t score like Penn State, so if JT slings the ball around and runs it effectively, Ohio State covers with ease.

Wisconsin won’t score more than 24 points, unless Hornibrook turns into Russell Wilson overnight. All Ohio State and JT Barrett have to do is score more than 28-ish points to cover the spread, and I think they’ll stun Wisconsin and win the game easily (and still won’t make the college football playoff).

Miami vs. Clemson UNDER 46

Miami has some injuries on offense, they haven’t really looked “Turnover Chain Swaggy” since the Notre Dame game, and they haven’t seen a defense like Clemson’s yet. On the other side, Miami’s defense is pretty damn good as well. I think Clemson holds Miami to under 20 points, and win the game 28-17. I wouldn’t be surprised if Miami doesn’t even score 17. I’ve learned to trust Dabo late in the season. Clemson wins easily in a low scoring game.

Florida Atlantic -11.5

Lane Kiffin only knows how to live life in the fast lane. The dude is trolling Nick Saban on twitter while blowing teams out and scoring 50 points a game. Just crushing overs and covering spreads all season long. Last time FAU played North Texas, just a few games ago, Lane Kiffin ran the score up and scored 69 on them (did he stop at 69 on purpose?) Same result here, FAU wins big and Lane Kiffin has fun doing it.
